CASE STUDY:

BetterPetra – Flexible Thinking for a Focused Display

Challenge
Kiva Confections, the company behind Petra cannabis-infused mints, was looking for a countertop display that balanced premium branding with retail flexibility. The original need was a display that could hold four or five tins, depending on regional SKU availability. However, varying product assortments across markets made fixed-format displays inefficient and prone to visual imbalance.

Solution
To address the initial brief, Rhino Global Solutions designed a compact, clean-lined display with a reversible base insert. This insert created a stepped, tiered presentation that allowed retailers to showcase either 4 or 5 tins in a visually balanced layout. Without the insert, removing one tin would have left an awkward gap in the middle, disrupting shelf impact and weakening brand presentation.

The flippable base was a simple but strategic solution. It allowed Kiva to produce one standard display that could flex across different markets, maintaining both product alignment and merchandising integrity.

Refinement
Midway through development, Kiva’s brand team reevaluated the Petra line’s retail strategy. They decided to reduce the number of SKUs in most markets to four and in some cases to three. As a result, the reversible insert designed for a 4/5 SKU configuration was no longer necessary. A simpler version of the display, without the insert, was produced to reflect the new go-to-market strategy.

The final design is what made it into production. Clean, compact, and easy to use, it still delivered strong brand presentation and merchandising flexibility, tailored to the updated SKU plan.

Execution
The Rhino team worked in close collaboration with Kiva throughout the process, from early concepts through final production, adapting quickly as needs evolved. The result was a display that stayed true to Petra’s clean and accessible aesthetic while aligning with real-world retail conditions.

Conclusion
This project illustrates how Rhino does more than build displays. We solve for shifting retail realities. By anticipating flexibility from the start, and pivoting quickly when strategy changed, we helped Kiva streamline its Petra rollout with a smart, scalable display that worked in the wild.
